Oh, To Live Like Steve
When Jerry’s cancer came back, I shared this quote from Steve Jobs in the Tripawds News blog.
Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. – Steve Jobs
I learned a lot about quality of life from Jerry, and we could all learn from Steve’s outlook on life. That’s why when I was saddened by the loss of such a visionary business leader this week, I watched the video of his Stanford commencement speech.
A few more poignant quotes struck a chord…
If today were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do.
I’m happy to report, that yes, I am very happy doing what I’m doing. Are you?
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
While some may find such thinking morbid, I find it quite encouraging. It confirms we made the right decision by choosing to control our own destiny. With this new venture, we have the freedom to live life on our terms.
To those who may argue about the perceived “stability” of a 9-5 job, I reiterate the words Steve shared from the last issue of the Whole Earth Catalog.
Stay hungry. Stay Foolish.
Steve wouldn’t have it any other way, may he rest in peace and his family be comforted by knowing he has touched so many people in such a positive way.
